No Arrangement

While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:12 (ESV)

Jesus, the perfect teacher, lost one of His students. If Judas did not want to listen, there is nothing Jesus would do to make him listen. God gives us a choice, and our options have consequences.
Jesus came to serve, not be served. Jesus came to give, help, teach, heal, and love. Jesus loved people, and God and did not desire to use either.

Judas plotted and schemed how to benefit from this "arrangement personally." But unfortunately, he missed the whole point of Jesus' message. Our service to the King is not an arrangement that works as long as we are cared for, comfortable, and honored.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness

Hope in a King?
