Do we understand what Jesus has done for us?

When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.”
John 13:12-13 (ESV)
Do we understand what Jesus has done for us? Do we understand that the creator and sustainer of all life loves us and came to this earth to die on our behalf? Do we realize that the one with the ultimate power came to serve? Do we understand that when you have all power and authority, you use it for others and not-self? Do we understand?
If not, why not?

Hope in a King?

And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
