Security

And Lot said to them, "Oh, no, my lords. Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there—is it not a little one? —and my life will be saved!"
Genesis 19:18-20
Lot, a man who once lived in the country and had many sheep, could not follow the leading of the Lord because he was now too soft. The rugged Lot, accustomed to the simplicity of life in the city, begged not to be tossed into the rugged wilderness.
Ideas have consequences. Lot's ideas were disastrous. Lot, like many, seemed to be one the masses could easily influence. The idea of being isolated in the wilderness was unthinkable, yet the unthinkable is why he was in trouble in the first place. We are all influenced by our culture, and those whose roots go deep into a Godless culture will find disaster awaiting them during life's storms.
If my security can ever be compromised, I have my hope in the wrong place.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
