Danger?

Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard. He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside. Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned backward, and they did not see their father's nakedness. When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, he said, "Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers." He also said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant. May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant."
Genesis 9:20-25

Fermented drink causes all sorts of unwanted and regretful behavior. Therefore, it is best to leave it alone. It is not as if there is a void of excellent beverages available in our country with no harmful side effects.

The world has made it seem as if we are missing out when we choose not to use alcoholic beverages as a part of our celebrations or daily life. They are wrong. Spend time looking up, on a single day, how many tragedies there are when alcohol was part of the problem. Then, take a survey and ask those in prison how many of them committed their crime while under its influence.

We are told to drink responsibly, yet when it takes over the brain, it becomes impossible. It's a way of softening the blow, of justifying what we want.

Christians are so afraid of missing out on what the world portrays as normal and necessary that they give in and try to find Scripture to justify what and why they do what they do. If you love God and love people, you would avoid a substance that could harm others and allow the Evil One to mess with your head.

This did not turn out well in Noah's family. It may not turn out well in yours. Time will tell.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness

Hope in a King?
