Well Done

"Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
John 5:25-29 (ESV)

There is a life after death. There is a judgment. Some did right, and those who did wrong. All will be held accountable.

There are only two groups. Those who do not know God cannot do right or good will be judged according to their works apart from Christ's finished work. For them, eternity begins disastrously and never gets better. Never.

Those in Christ will also be judged according to their faithfulness to God, and their works will matter. Our works will never count toward our salvation, but our works will determine our inheritance, and all will look forward to the phrase they hope God will utter on their behalf:
"Well done, my good and faithful servant."

We need to remember that God does not lie. Therefore, if He says well done, we did well.
The only time to prepare for that time is now.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness

Hope in a King?
