When you go against Jesus, you go against God.

For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
John 5:20-23 (ESV)
 
When you go against Jesus, you go against God. When you go against one who is following Jesus, you go against God. Therefore, those who go against God will lose.
 
As God's children, we have the opportunity to know and obey Him. If we follow Him, regardless of public opinion, we will be victorious. Those who choose to follow, who choose to wait upon the Lord will not be disappointed.

Hope in a King?

And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
