A Fulfilled Life
And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
John 5:37-40 (ESV)
Eternal life is in Christ alone. Therefore, the Scriptures point to Jesus. We do not worship the words on the page; we worship the one the words are about. Religious people are confused people, and confusion is not from God.
If our time in God's Word does not bring us to the end of ourselves and to Christ, then we do not understand what the Scriptures are saying. The goal is oneness with God, not knowledge of the Scriptures, so we study the Scriptures to know God, rather for some religious exercise.
Fulfilling lives enjoy God, and in doing so, enjoy people. These are the two fruits of living life as it is meant to be.
