Jesus Came To Give Us Life

But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, "Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)
John 6:61-64 (ESV)

It is the Spirit who gives life. Jesus came to give us life. So often, we focus on Jesus coming to give us eternal life and we miss the idea of life today.

When God created Adam from clay, Adam was just a lump of dirt until God breathed the breath of life into him.  Imagine the excitement of the host of heaven when God took dirt and made it alive. Without God's breath, there would be no life, just dirt.  When we leave this life, the body we were entrusted with will become lifeless dirt.

Life is always a gift from God, and apart from God, we have no life, no purpose, no hope, and no future.  God always focuses on life and its purposes and clarifies that we are created to love Him and others, and accomplishing this purpose gives us life.

Too often, we focus on "death" and wonder why we are not enjoying life. The answer is obvious.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
