Jesus is the Reason

And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father." After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you want to go away as well?" Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil." He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.
John 6:65-71 (ESV)

Many of those who followed Christ decided that life would make more sense if they quit following Him.  In the crowd of "disciples," some were "disciples" for the wrong reason. But, in time, the false disciples were weeded out. If we follow Christ for any other reason than the fact that He is the Christ, we will one day be disillusioned.

Jesus is the reason for, giver of, and sustainer of life. The poor, rich, sick, and well all follow Him, and often remain poor, rich, sick, and well. Our earthly circumstances will change, yet our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If you ever abandon Christ, you did not know Him, for if you knew Him, you would never leave or forsake Him for any reason.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
