We all struggle.

"'I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
"'You shall have no other gods before me.'"
Deuteronomy 5:6-7 ESVST

When God speaks, no one else can validate what is said. God communicates with authority because He is the authority. Those of us who are not the authority would be wise to listen to the one who is the authority.

The Ten Commandments were given to us because we struggle in those areas. If one of my small children is afraid of the stove, I do not make a rule for them to stay away from it, for they are not inclined toward that activity. If I have a child fascinated by the stove, I need to make rules, set a boundary, or give a law concerning their behavior around the stove.

We all struggle with putting other gods before God. We all tend to replace the true and living God with ones that we create, understand, and are tolerant rather than patient. When we replace God with gods, we destroy life's purpose and begin a life of endurance rather than fulfillment.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
