God did not ask us to do something we cannot do.

“Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 8:20 ESVST

Why do some nations live in peace and prosperity, while others seem to flounder and struggle to even meet basic needs of their people? Why are there nations in a perpetual state of fear, anxiety, and turmoil?

What if the people of the world would love the Lord God? That would mean they would obey God. That would mean that they would be thinking about how to make others successful, rather than themselves. The poor and needy would be cared for by the excesses of the rich, women would not be being auctioned off as property (as they are in places of the world today), and children would be cared for and nurtured.

God did not ask us to do something we cannot do. He asked us to obey His voice. The United States does not seem to want to hear God's voice, much less obey it. We seem to want to make up our own standards. This will not turn out well.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness

Hope in a King?
