God desires what is good for His children.

"Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules —that the Lord your God
commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.”
Deuteronomy 6:1-3 ESVST
 
The most important thing we do in life is to fear God. The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge. We must know that there is a God, that we are not Him, and that He is the ultimate judge of all things, to whom we will answer.
 
God desires what is good for His children, but His children need to accept what He has to offer in order to enjoy the good He is offering.

Hope in a King?

And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
