Freedom cost Jesus, but is free to me. I am most thankful for God's provision.

Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.
John 8:34-37 (ESV)

Slavery is evil. Being a slave to sin is the worst of all in that it leaves one with no hope, no future, and no purpose. Even more disgusting is that being a slave to sin is what we choose to do.
Those who know the truth and respond to it are free from the power of sin. They no longer need to give in to hatred, anger, jealousy, and the like. They use money instead of loving money and love people rather than using them. Slaves often feel trapped, yet nobody is trapped in sin because Jesus made way for all sinners to be freed.

Those who have understood God's love and placed their trust in Jesus as their Savior have taken the first step to live free. They may need time to adjust to what this freedom looks like and understand the responsibilities that come with freedom, but they are indeed free. These free people no longer need to cope with life; they get to live life and no longer fear death.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
