Temptation, a part of life.

And when he came to the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."
Luke 22:40-42 (ESV)

Jesus understood temptation, and He understood what He needed to do to avoid it. He also was the perennial teacher in that He used this occasion to teach His disciples what they must do to avoid temptation.

The first step to overcoming temptation is to admit it is there. The second step is to realize that you are not strong enough on your own to have victory over it. Thirdly, you need to seek God and abide in His presence.

Temptation will be part of our lives until we are called home, and the wise and victorious have a strategy to fight and win.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
