Serving is something everyone can choose to do

A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.”
Luke 22:24-26 (ESV)
 
We seem never to be satisfied with being different. We need to be better. Different is only acceptable if my difference is better than your difference.
 
God makes it clear that status is tied to serving, not being served. Those who serve God and each other will enjoy a special "status" in eternity.
 
It is encouraging to know that serving is something everyone can choose to do, making our eternal rewards one of the few fair deals in life.
 
For now, the choice is mine.
