Prince of Peace

I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

Realistic expectations are vital to purpose-filled lives. If we are dedicated to listening to God and  following Christ, we can and should expect the same treatment Christ was given when He followed His Father
.
We stand firm if we know the expectations and our circumstances change, and life becomes challenging. Job did things right and was targeted by the evil one. Daniel and Joseph were obedient and suffered. The disciples were mocked and killed, and today, Christians worldwide pay a great price for loving God and people.
 
Being in sync with the majority opinion and a life free from accusation and slander probably means you have not been obedient to God, for Satan loves these warfare tools. Those who love God are at war, and during wartime, life gets messy. We need to keep our eyes on finishing our assignments and heading home.
 
Then, we will no longer be at war forever, and the Prince of Peace will rule.

Watch Him Work

But David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?" And David said, "As the Lord lives, the Lord will strike him, or his day will come to die, or he will go down into battle and perish. Waiting often means waiting for something to be transferred to our control. We do not like things we cannot control. "He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed." 1 Samuel 2:9-10 (ESV)   There is no way to fight God, and one would be foolish to attempt such folly. Yet, some seem to be in a continual battle with the Almighty. You would think they would learn quickly the error of their ways.   Strength never determines victory; proximity does.
