For now, we get to choose our pain.
Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
John 16:32-33 (ESV)
Trying to find purpose in this world without Christ is futile. Likewise, trying to find peace in a war zone is ludicrous. Yet, we keep looking, hoping, and even praying that somehow this world will be a place of rest, comfort, and security.
When we sin, we live in chaos, and when we live right, we live in a war zone. We were made to find peace in the middle of the tribulation, but not in the middle of sin.
For now, we get to choose our pain.
