Healthy People

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.”  Mark 10:35-37 (ESV)
It appears most of us would like to see the world revolve around us. We want recognition. We want the world to recognize our value and contribution to society. We want to know our lives matter, and that our significance is noted.
Those who seek significance do so because they do not understand that God, the only God, the Creator and Sustainer of life, loves and cares for them. For most, it seems as though that is not enough.
If that is not enough, then we have yet to realize who God is. If we continually try to prove our worth, we have not understood from where our worth comes.
These men were asking Jesus to do something that was focused on themselves. One day they might understand that healthy people focus on God, and let God determine their place in history.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
