The Temple

And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. And when evening came, they went out of the city.  Mark 11:15-19(ESV)
 Jesus seemed to be somewhat even keeled in His emotional output, yet when He decided to show some righteous anger, He did so concerning the temple.
The temple has a purpose. It was not a place of business. It is not the religious equivalent of a bar and restaurant or coffee shop.
Today, those who are in God's family represent the temple. We, too, have a purpose that God is passionate about that we need to find and demonstrate. A wasted temple is a tragedy.

Hope in a King?

And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them. According to all the deeds that they have done, from the day I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are also doing to you Now then, obey their voice; only you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them." 1 Samuel 8:7-9 (ESV)   Sometimes, God gives us what we whine for, which is not good for us.
