Marriage, The Way It Was Meant To Be

They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”  Mark 10:4-9 (ESV)
Religious people often mess up simple ideas. Earlier, they messed up the simple idea of the "Sabbath," and now they are confused as to what marriage is about.
Jesus quickly points out their problem, and it is their problem. Because of the hardness of their hearts, they have made marriage what they want it to be. Yet, God, from the beginning (because He points out the beginning, and this transcends culture) has said that He created man and woman and intended those who marry to stay married.
There is no room for man's opinion here. God did what He did and has declared it good.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
