Evaluation

So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

So you shall purge the evil from Israel.

So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
Deuteronomy 22:24b ESVST
God warns a nation to be serious about purging evil from their midst. He did not suggest they entertain evil or give it a platform to justify itself. He did not say to buy a 60” plasma screen to watch evil in high definition. The only way America could be proud of its behavior would be to redefine the word evil.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink,
Isaiah 5:20-22 ESVST

It is hard to purge evil from us if we think it is good. We must have a way to evaluate what we believe honestly.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
