In the beginning, God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:1-5 (ESV)
 
We all start at a beginning, yet, before the beginning, there is God. No matter when we started, there was God. He was before all and all exist and are sustained by Him.
 
God is totally beyond our comprehension, yet totally understandable. He is beyond belief, yet we have faith. He is beyond comparison, cannot be manipulated, contained, or ignored, yet, we often try to compare, manipulate, box and/or ignore Him.
 
In the beginning was the Word. In the beginning, God.
 
I was not in the beginning, even though I had a beginning. I would be wise to keep this in mind today and every day.

Hope in a King?

And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them. According to all the deeds that they have done, from the day I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are also doing to you Now then, obey their voice; only you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them." 1 Samuel 8:7-9 (ESV)   Sometimes, God gives us what we whine for, which is not good for us.
