Concept to Reality
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:1-5 (ESV)
You might translate this as "In the beginning was the concept of God" or the "Idea of God." Often, truth starts as an idea that may be hard to grasp until it somehow moves to reality.
Later in this chapter we see this: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14 )
Jesus came to this earth and made the concept of God a reality. We can observe God in the flesh in Jesus.
Jesus is God, in the flesh, sent to bear a cross for all people. He came to pay the price that we incurred, to eliminate the separation our sin created. He came because He loves. I am most thankful to be the recipient of His love.
