No Need

And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”    Mark 12:41-44 (ESV)
God does not need our help to accomplish His purposes. Sometimes we think that we have an obligation to personally be involved in preventing or solving the problems of the world. Yet, we understand that with or without us, God can achieve victory.
If for some reason God chooses to use us, we should consider that a privilege, and not a burden or sacrifice.
It is not that God does not use people. It is that He does not need people. He uses people in order to give us the thrill of being part of the victory.
Think how Moses felt after the Red Sea crossing, or how Daniel and “the boys” felt after their obedience drove them to seemingly sure deaths. Likewise, God has no need for my money, however, it is a privilege to be able to participate in anything in which He is involved. For now, the choice is mine.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
