Reasonable Lamb?

"And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand."  Mark 13:20-23 (ESV)

When Jesus tells us to be on guard, there is good reason to be on guard. An enemy is stifled when those they want to attack are watching for them to attack. Even worse, is when they know the various methods of the attack and have prepared for them.

Satan attacks those whom God loves. People are compared to sheep in that we have enemies we never asked for and cannot adequately protect ourselves against on our own. We must be on guard.

Satan’s only tactic is to remove us from the presence of the Shepherd. If he is able to do that, we have no way to defend ourselves.

Why would any reasonable lamb wander from the only protection it would have?

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
