No Revenge

This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?"
Genesis 41:37-38 (ESV)

Nebuchadnezzar would ask this same question about Daniel and the boys who served him. Those who love God and act like they love God are unique or holy.

Joseph did not control the circumstances of his life, but he did manage his response to the circumstances. Somewhere in his life's journey he learned who God was and focused on God's character. This focus would not allow the root of bitterness to develop.  Perhaps he spent the two years in prison because it took that long to rid himself of his anger and desire for revenge.
We all get to a point in life where we understand that we do not control all of our circumstances, and either we trust the one who does, or we lose hope. Somehow, Joseph got to the point where he trusted the one in control, and this erased any semblance of revenge and anger and replaced it with love, mercy, and grace.

Those who know and walk with God are not interested in revenge because they focus on restoration.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
