Nehemiah 2:2-4 (ESV)
Nehemiah did not need to work at solving this problem. He had a great and secure job, and a lifestyle many would enjoy. He could have ignored all the issues outside the palace, focused on enjoying the tasks he had to do, and even justified his myopic focus.
Yet real leaders get bothered by real problems, and feel the pain and suffering of those in pain and suffering. Real leaders take time to think about and understand the "whys" of life, and then work at making the proper adjustments. That is what makes them leaders.
