"And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people in the province Beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God. And those who do not know them, you shall teach. Whoever will not obey the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be strictly executed on him, whether for death or for banishment or for confiscation of his goods or for imprisonment." Ezra 7:25-26 (ESV) Those who obey God get many opportunities to live life the way it was intended to be lived. Eventually, all authority will acknowledge one authority, and when they do, they will finally be able to be responsible with their authority. Ezra was granted a great privilege in life—teaching people the ways of God. Not only was he given this privilege, but he was also given the authority of those in authority. Often, those in authority in life are hard to deal with. It is wonderful to see, at least now, at this time, someone who acknowledges what is essential. |
