Those who enjoy God enjoy…

So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.
Exodus 17:10-13 (ESV)

God was victorious, and the men listed played a significant part in the victory. God could have just wiped out the enemy without anyone's help. He could have allowed Moses to have great strength so his arms would not tire. He could have given Joshua special protection and the ability to slay the enemy.

Yet, for some reason, He chose to make all things dependent upon Moses's arms and included four key individuals. When this battle concluded, these four leaders knew why they won. They were not victorious because of human strategy, strength, or stamina. Instead, they were victorious because they obeyed God. God often allows us to be a part of what He is doing even though He does not need us to accomplish His work.

Being wanted by God is different than being needed by God. Those who enjoy God enjoy what God accomplishes through them, and they know that it is a privilege to be spent by Him. Those who do not know God place the burden of success on themselves, and burn out while destroying all significant relationships.

For now, the choice is ours.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
