God's work is not a democracy.

So Moses came and called the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the LORD had commanded him. All the people answered together and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do." And Moses reported the words of the people to the LORD. And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I am coming to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever."
When Moses told the words of the people to the LORD….
Exodus 19:7-9 (ESV)

God chooses leaders and works through the structure. But unfortunately, this is sometimes difficult to teach in that those in leadership often do the teaching, and it appears they are trying to get people to submit to them.

In reality, nothing good has ever happened apart from the hand of God, and He works in specific ways. He works through leaders He chooses. God is a God of order, not chaos, and has a structure for His people to follow.

Unfortunately, many ministries maximize democracy and minimize leadership. Leaders only have one hundred percent of emotional and physical energy to give. So if they invest in convincing the people they lead to follow, they minimize their effectiveness.

God's work is not a democracy; He alone is the leader. It is God who chooses leaders, for whatever reason, to follow Him and lead the people.

In this case, Moses is the chosen leader, and the people needed to recognize him as their leader.
All leaders God chooses will stand accountable to Him for their leadership, and they will be judged according to how they listened to God, not the majority opinion.

Perhaps it is time to reexamine how churches and ministries are structured.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
