Satan is a deceptive liar


Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." And he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
1 Kings 1:5 (ESV)

When we exalt ourselves, we hurt others. We were not made to honor ourselves. Honor is something that belongs to God, and since it is His, it is His to give away. Just as, in this case, the king has the right to choose who will follow as king or who should be given the honor of being king, God can and will honor those who are faithful to Himself.
Our goal is not to be honored, but to honor; as we truly honor, we are honored. Those who focus on loving or obeying God will not be disappointed when the end comes. They will be the few who are honestly looking forward to the end.

Satan is a deceptive liar who has fooled many into believing that they are not appreciated, loved enough, or honored sufficiently. Focus on these things and discouragement and despair will be your constant companion.

God Speaks

And the Lord called again, "Samuel!" and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he said, "I did not call, my son; lie down again." Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. But the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, "No! But there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."
