We will be judged one day.
And David said to the men who stood by him, "What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"
1 Samuel 17:26 (ESV)
1 Samuel 17:26 (ESV)
This is an innocent question asked by an innocent young man. David was curious as to why trained soldiers were unwilling to go and fight this big bad guy. Sometimes, perspective is everything. David wondered why anyone could stand up and defy the name of the Lord and have those who named the name of the Lord remain silent.
Silence is the same as compliance when one has observed something wrong, and compliance makes one an accessory to the wrongdoing. Perhaps that is why we, as a culture, have worked so hard at eliminating right and wrong. We do not want to be responsible.
We will be judged one day according to what we have done and what we should have done.
