Use or Love?

My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, that you may
keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. For the lips of a forbidden woman
drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol; she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.
Proverbs 5:1-6 (ESV)

There are people who would use people for their personal gain no matter the effect on
the person they are using. In a way, it is the ultimate expression of self.

Jesus, on the other hand, describes the ultimate love as one who is willing to lay down
his life for his friend.

There is a difference in the sacrificing of someone else for my pleasure versus the
sacrificing myself what is best for others. We were made for the latter and will never find
satisfaction in this life if we focus on ourselves, and use, rather than love, other people.
