Now in the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's command and edict were about to be carried out, on the very day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, the reverse occurred: the Jews gained mastery over those who hated them.
Esther 9:1 (ESV)

What many thought was impossible became a reality. Because of one man's obedience, many were rescued. This seems to be a common occurrence in the Scriptures.

Because of Adam's sin, all have sinned. Because of Jesus' obedience, many are made righteous. Because of Mordecai's obedience, many were able to experience gladness, joy, and honor. Because of Noah's obedience, his family, mankind, and animals were rescued, and we can enjoy a rainbow of promise today.

Joseph did what was right and was able to be in a position to rescue his family, and, ultimately, rescue the whole nation. Daniel and his buddies decided to do what was right, and they were elevated to a platform that allowed them to bring God to the king. May we be the obedient ones that God uses to change the direction of many.

King Ahasuerus imposed tax on the land and on the coastlands of the sea. And all the acts of his power and might, and the full account of the high honor of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia? For Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Ahasuerus, and he was great among the Jews and popular with the multitude of his brothers, for he sought the welfare of his people and spoke peace to all his people.
Esther 10 (ESV)

This is the final chapter, the final word, the "mic drop." Mordecai, the Jew, was second in rank to King Ahasuerus, was great among the Jews, and was popular with the multitude.

Mordecai did not set out to be great and popular. He set out to care for a young woman who was to be a Godly young lady. He set out to be an example, to obey God and do what was right in the sight of God and man.

We need to focus on the same.
