Moving Off The Gold Standard
Moving Off the "Gold Standard"
This week our President informed the rest of the world that we were not a Christian nation.
Although many may think that our leader is stating the obvious, and he may be, he is also declaring a new philosophy that will ignore the obvious importance of our nation's Christian heritage and declare independence from God from this day forward.
To imply that we were never a Christian nation would be foolish and prove a lack of understanding history. To state that we are not now Christian, or have any "religious" loyalties is to be honoring man apart from God.
Years ago the US dollar had value because it was measured against the "gold standard". It was so valuable that all nations of the world began to measure their economy against that of the United States and so stable that that the rest of the world adopted the dollar as their standard monetary measurement. Since our nation has moved off the gold standard our dollar has a diminished value and the rest of the world is discussing other currency that may be "better" used as the standard monetary measurement. The further away from the gold standard we go, the more useless our currency becomes.
Our nation, as a culture and a people has travelled down the same path. We were once a nation where people risked their lives to come and resettle in hopes to have a piece of the American Dream. We were a nation of ethics and were ruled by laws that were extracted from the early Christians and Deists. Our nation's values came from our Christian leaders, from the Holy Scriptures and the boundaries we placed in our lives gave us the freedom to live in a way where we honored our God by loving Him, our families and our neighbors.
Because of our Christian heritage we understood right and wrong and applied these truths to everyday living.
What I heard from our President this week was that we have moved off that "gold standard" of Christianity and that we would now try to sustain what was built on a Christian foundation without Christ, without God.
This means that our leader has officially moved us off the "gold standard" and has diminished the value of these United States of America. Even more I fear that we as a nation will be in trouble in that our leader has openly defied our God by denying Him the glory that is due Him by acknowledging that our greatness has come from Him and from those who have lived to glorify Him.
It is difficult to know what is ahead for our nation's economy because we have never been so far off the "gold standard".
It is difficult to know what is ahead for our nation's people in that we have never been so far off the "gold standard" spiritually.
May God have mercy on us for we have sinned….We have sinned by ignoring God's hand and presence in our past. We have sinned by ignoring God in our present and stealing His glory by claiming our accomplishments have taken place apart from Him. We have sinned by intentionally excluding God from our future.
I have no idea what our current President means when he ends a speech in this country with….and may God bless America….
Why would He?
