He Chose To Follow

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images.
2 Chronicles 34:3 (ESV)

Here is an eight-year-old doing what is right. Regardless of age, we must choose to do what is right when we know what is right. Doing what is right is much easier than giving the appearance of doing right. The truth, or doing right, is narrow and reserved for those seeking the right way, whereas error is freely available to all.

Josiah endured the murder of his father and, no doubt, the fear of being murdered himself, yet amid the chaos, he was able to focus on the things he knew were right and do them. He must have had solid advisors who could guide and direct him correctly.

However, he chose to follow God, and that made all the difference between a life wasted and a life well lived.
