Fighting Your Own Battles? Why?


"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and all the horde that is with him, for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles." And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
2 Chronicles 32:7-8 (ESV)
 
"With him is an arm of flesh, but with is the Lord our God." Powerful words, powerful concept.
 
When we listen to God there is not a single or combined power that can defeat Him or us and His or our purposes.
When His ways are our ways, we win. When we listen to God, we win. When God is our only hope, we have hope. When God is our focus, life is straightforward. When God is our strength, we are indeed strong.
 
Going through this life without God is not a good idea, because if we choose to do that, we will need to fight our own battles, and we will not win.

Watch Him Work

But David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?" And David said, "As the Lord lives, the Lord will strike him, or his day will come to die, or he will go down into battle and perish. Waiting often means waiting for something to be transferred to our control. We do not like things we cannot control.
