So they watched him….

So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor. So they asked him, "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and show no partiality, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?" But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, "Show me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?" They said, "Caesar's." He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
Luke 20:20-25 (ESV)

Religious people love to get into horizontal pursuits. For some reason, they seem to enjoy inventing conspiracy theories and looking for reasons to distinguish themselves from the crowd.
Yet, the one thing a true believer does not need to do is work at being different. If they love God and people, they will be different. If they care for others and are servants of God, they will live differently than those who only care for themselves and want God to be their servant. The harder you have to work at being different, the more "religious" you are, and, most likely, the more distant you are from God and others.

Jesus was different because He was God's Son and did what was right. I will be different because I am God's son and do what is right. I need to concentrate on being right, and realize that being right will be different.

One day, we answer to God.

It is good that God does not depend upon our ability, faith, or goodness
