The children of God are children of hope.


Wail, for the day of the Lord is near; as destruction from the Almighty it will come! Therefore all hands will be feeble, and every human heart will melt. They will be dismayed: pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame.
Isaiah 13:6-8 (ESV)

We cannot imagine a day when all men are weak, helpless, and feeble. We cannot picture a time different from today, yet history has proven that life can change quickly and irrevocably. The wise prepare for things they cannot know by knowing the One who can be known and cannot change. We do not control the future. We enter the future and stand before the One who creates and controls it.

Evidence continually points towards us preparing for our future by strengthening our relationships, not our pocketbooks. God is most capable. We are most vulnerable, and our trust in Him will never disappoint.

The children of God are children of hope. The children of this world are children of despair. For now, the choice is mine.

Choosing to Listen

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Inquire first for the word of the Lord." Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king." But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not here another prophet of the Lord of whom we may inquire?" Distinguishing Qualities

"The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who have separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, all who have knowledge and understanding, join with their brothers, their nobles, and enter into a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law that was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord and his rules and his statutes.
