Nothing on earth may be fair…

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all. For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them

Why would we invest our time and money in being swift, strong, wise, intelligent, and ignoring God? God, alone, is in charge of the time and chances in life, and can make the poor rich, the slow appropriate, the weak strong, the simple wise, and the uneducated intelligent.
 
Our time and effort should be invested in knowing and following God, not in knowing and following the best educational practices. Many healthy, educated fools have ignored the one thing that would truly give them what they seek.
 
Nothing on earth may be fair, but God is fair because anyone who comes to Him, submits to Him, and loves others will succeed.

Choosing to Listen

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Inquire first for the word of the Lord." Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king." But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not here another prophet of the Lord of whom we may inquire?" "The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who have separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, all who have knowledge and understanding, join with their brothers, their nobles, and enter into a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law that was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord and his rules and his statutes.
