What is the Price of Arrogance?
1 John 2:26-27 (NLT)
26 I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray.
27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
Uncomfortable with the direction of the country? It is either because you think your life will be affected adversely or because the Holy Spirit is poking at your soul.
Recently the president of France expressed concern about our president. He said, in essence, that our president was naive and arrogant, a most dangerous combination; for if one is naive and un-teachable one remains a great danger.
Certainly this was Satan's original sin as well. He was naïve in believing he could be greater than God and arrogant in that he believed he could actually pull it off because of who he was.
In my mind, I would like to be disgusted with our president for such behavior, yet how else would I expect one who is Godless to behave? If we are not longer a Christian nation then we will no longer have Christian leaders who would have the ability, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to die to self and use their power and influence for the good of the people. Those without Christ do not have God's Spirit, they do not have the capability to make decisions based on anything but what is good for themselves.
Perhaps we have allowed the lie of segmenting society, separating church and state, to influence our thinking. Perhaps we believe that politics should be "neutral" when it comes to God, and commitment to God and His ways. Perhaps we have been deceived, once again, into believing that man can, in some way, shape or form, achieve greatness without the Creator's blessing, even apart from any connection with Him.
Wherever there is pride and arrogance there is a playground for Satan. This would be true in a church, a family and in a nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)
14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
Without servant leader who are submissive to God we will crumble as a nation. Blessing will never come from our own hand; it only comes from the hand of God. Time will prove this true.
As for me, it is time to humble myself, pray and seek God's face. I can do nothing, but God will act when the time is right and when He acts I want to be identified with Him and His purposes. God is capable of directing world affairs and I am not. God will win this battle and I will win as well if I choose to align myself with Him.
It is good to wish our nation would turn to God. (Not a god, but to God.) It may be politically correct to encourage a "Religious Melting Pot" of sorts for leadership but it weakens the very fabric of society to the point of certain destruction. Strength does not come from a diversity of opinion it comes in a commitment to truth. Truth is not something that we decide it is something that we discover and adjust too.
History shows us that nations who ignore God pay a severe price. I pray that we can learn from history and not from experience.
