The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar were saying, "Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?" Some said, "It is he." Others said, "No, but he is like him." Validating your disagreement with another can be an art form. You can validate your thoughts by convincing arguments, surrounding yourself with those you control, or numerous other techniques. Regardless of how you validate your wrong idea, it remains wrong. Those gifted in rhetoric are most susceptible to believing their lies and must have regular checks in place.
Statistics are often manipulated to say whatever benefits the user. Therefore, there must always be outside, reliable sources to ensure we do not believe lies.
